Structural Strengthening

Wednesday, 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Structural Strengthening is a workout designed with the Yang family system of taijiquan in mind.  Though not part of the the Yang style tradition, Structural Strengthening takes the same principles and mechanics and focuses on repetitions of a variety of movements while using the staff or spear as a weight.  We start with stretches and work in numerous movements with varying degrees of intensity, all while emphasizing use of the whole body rather than isolating muscles.  We also add in more intensive martial movements from the Yang family spear tradition.  The result is a stronger, more limber body.

Center instructor Matt Rosecan demonstrates proper alignment in a spear strengthening exercise.
