
Video Clips: Traditional Taiji Quan from the Yang Family
There are four major branch of TaijiQuan (tai chi chuan) in the Yang Lineage at Great River Taoist Center we practice the earliest branch, the YangJia MiChuan TaijiQuan (First Generation) & the newest branch (Third Generation) passed down by Zheng Manqing (Cheng Man-Ch'ing).
These two branches follow the same structural & internal principles but differ greatly in body structure. Below is a visual comparison of MiChuan & Zheng's Taijiquan & TaijiJian (sword). For the empty hand forms the basic movements Peng, Lu, An, Ji (Ward Off, Roll Back, Push & Press) are shown for both styles:
