2002 Taiji Sword Festival | |||||
International Taiji Sword Festival The first event of its kind, the Festival will draw together students from across Europe & American. Designed to be a complete treatment of the sword art, all aspects of Jian swordsmanship will be covered. The Festival will start with training in the essential ingredients - the Eight Basic Cuts of the Yang Family Michuan Jian. Participants will progress thru precession cutting practice into two man drills. As these sword skills become familiar, we'll move into form work. The last days of the Festival will focus on Free Sword Play. At the festival end, all participants will be familiar with every aspect of Jian Swordsmanship. Everyone will head home with a complete practice to develop further. The daily training is centered around the Yang Family Michuan Taiji Jian system, but the Festival doesn't end there. Enhancing the everyday practical training, will be evening talks on the development of Chinese Swords, the Life & Times of the Yang Family & Qing History. (Our quest lectures have impressive credentials). There will also be compare & contrast discussions, demonstrations & practice lead by swordsmen of other styles of Chinese swordsmanship.
